A note from Cherrydale Primary School on what it's all about...
Studies show that attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Being repeatedly late for school or leaving early can cause poor attendance, which can influence whether children read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. By 6th grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school. Absences also can affect the hold class when the teacher has to slow down learning to help frequently absent and/or tardy children catch up.
Student who have 5 or less absences for the school year will be entered into a drawing to win a bicycle and helmet! These will be awarded in a special assembly in June. Last year we saw our attendance increase by 15% and had 188 kids eligible for the drawing! We received enough donation to award 37 bikes to some very excited students! Please help us encourage and reward good attendance.
Your financial support helps us continue in our mission to encourage and inspire good attendance from our students within in return produces productivity in the classroom.
If you would like to be a part of the program please email Jessie & Kathy Garza at jessiegarza@hotmail or contact the school directly.
