Jonathan T Harris,
Steilacoom 2022 “Citizen Of The Year”
Mr. Harris was born in Salem, Va & joined the Air Force in 1961, after 8 Yrs Active Duty he came to Everett, Wa in 1969 & started working at Boeing: 1970 The Sign in Seattle Said “Last One Out Turn the Lights Off” & Jonathan went to work at McChord AFB & lived in Lakewood Area.
Jonathan has lived in Steilacoom, Wa since 1977 & retired as (CMSGT) Chief Master Sergeant from USAF (8 yrs Active & 25 AF Reserves) in 1995; Jonathan served 12 Years on Steilacoom School Board (1981-1989; 1995-2000). He retired from 62 Airlift Wing, McChord AFB 2015 ending 50+ Years of Federal Service.
He has served on the Pierce College Foundation Board for 10 Years, serving as Vice President and President. He is currently Chairman of Scholarship Scramble Committee.
He is a Life Member of Tuskegee Airman Assoc., Veterans Foreign WarVFW, Air Force Association (AFA); Air Life Tanker Association (ATA); & Steilacoom Historical Museum. Jonathan is also a Member of the Tacoma Athletic Commission & Member of Allen AME Church, Tacoma.
He says it has been his Pleasure to Coordinate the Fly-Bys & Hot Rods for the 4th of July Parade in Steilacoom. He was disappointed the Tacoma Narrows Air Show was canceled this Year. Jonathan enjoys working in his Yard, Cruising with friends in his 57 2 Dr 210 Chevy Wagon & traveling to visit his Mom & Brother back in Salem, Va.
